Guymon, also known as "No Man's Land", was once a flat prairie land with no law and few settlers in the Oklahoma Panhandle. In 1890, the organic act was signed and the narrow piece of land was joined with Indian territory to form Oklahoma territory, which later became the state of Oklahoma.First incorporated in 1901, Guymon, was built on the dreams & visions of men like Edward T. Guymon, William E. Moses, Taddy O. James & Richard B. Quinn, who saw promise in the flat desolate lands and began to establish new enterprises along the Rock Island Railroad while it was still under construction in the 1890s. Originally named Sanford, the town was renamed to Guymon after Edward T. Guymon as to eliminate confusion for the postal service with the near by town of Stratford, Texas.
Today, Guymon sits on Highway 54 and has an estimated population of 14,000 people. It is home to dozens of local restaurants, shops and markets and just a short drive to No Man's Land Museum in Goodwell, OK and Golden Mesa Casino.
